Carolina Melis

Carolina was born in Italy to a Danish mother and an Italian father. She graduated at Central Saint Martins in London before starting a career in illustration and animation. After college she was signed to production company Nexus where she worked until 2014 directing music videos, shorts and commercials for BBC, Fendi, Volkswagen, Vodafone, MTV, Sony, Prada to mention a few.

Carolina also worked on the BBC3 re-brand Threeworld, which won a Brand Identity award at Eurobest, and on the Council of Europe’s international campaign against violence to children for which she was nominated for a BTA Craft Award. Other awards include a Clio bronze for the Pashley series of illustrations. Carolina trained as a professional ballet dancer, something that has been highly influential in her animation work giving her a strong understanding of timing and moving image. Today Carolina lives in the island of Sardinia with her partner and son, Iacopo. Passionate about textiles and craft when she’s not working Carolina spends time with the local artisans weaving rugs and wallhangings.
