Carolina Melis and Michela Bruno are animation duo Animattu. Launched in 2018 after a long history of collaborations on various commercials and independent film projects. Both originally from Italy, currently based between London and Sardinia, Carolina and Michela share a passion for graphic design and moving image and are highly inspired by the theories on shape, composition and creativity by Bruno Munari and the work of Saul Bass. Together they create original videos working on every stage of the creative process from concept to design and animation.

Carolina graduated at Central Saint Martins in London before starting a career in advertising. In 2005 she was signed to production company Nexus in London where she worked as director until 2013. During her time at Nexus she directed series of shorts for Animal Planet, as well as commercials for BBC, Volkswagen, MTV, Sony PSP and Prada. Carolina also worked on the BBC3 re-brand Threeworld, which won a Brand Identity award at Eurobest 2008 and a commercial for NSPCC, which was nominated for a BTA Craft Award.

Michela graduated in graphic design at Milan’s Accademia di Comunicazione, Italy. In Milan she worked for Artech Video Record and then Proxima Milano designing motion graphics for clients including Medusa, Cristaldi Film, Fiat, Mtv, LeoBurnett, Armando Testa, Publicis and McCan before moving to London in 2011 where she’s currently based. Since then she freelanced with major production companies including Nexus Productions, MPC and Prime Focus.

Clients include: Animal Planet, Armando Testa, BBC, Chloè, Cristaldi Film, Debenhams, Erno Lazslo, Fendi, Fiat ,Janet&Janet ,J2O (BBH), LeoBurnett, Mall of the Emirates (TBWA), McCann, MPC, MTV, National Trust, Nexus Productions, NSPCC, Penguin Books, Prada, Prime Focus, Publicis, Sony PSP, and Volkswagen.
